Dr. Jyoti Selukar
Dr. Jyoti Selukar is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology. She obtained M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology. She has 24 years of teaching and 10 years of research experience in Sociology. Area of her interest in Sociology includes women’s studies. She has published 02 research papers at state level conferences, 08 research papers at national level conferences and 02 in international conference proceedings. She has published 06 research papers in inter disciplinary research journals and two papers in national level books. She has completed one UGC minor research project in 2014. She has organized one UGC sponsored state level seminar on “Child Labour: A Global Challenage”. She is a life member of Marathi Samajshastra Parishad and treasurer of the alumni association of the department of Sociology, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.
She is working as a recognized Ph.D. supervisor in Nagpur University and one of her students has been awarded Ph.D. in 2017. Two students are currently working under her guidance.
OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY
Bar. Sheshrao Wankhede Arts & Commerce College Khaperkheda was established in 1994 and at the same time “The Department of Sociology” was established with the strength of limited students. The Department grew in leaps and bounds in terms of quality. The greatest asset of the department is the sincere, dedicated and hard working faculty member.
The popularity of the department lies in the fact that the students give first preference to the subject. Dr. Jyoti Selukar, working at present as Associate Professor in Sociology, is H.O.D. of the department.
In order to be updated and acquaint with the new teaching skills as well as with the other information regarding the subject, the head of the department attended the various Conferences, Seminars, Workshops etc. and presented the research papers in related various social subjects.
The department conducts various programmes to contribute to the development of society and bring social awareness among the students. The department successfully conducted projects based on survey through which the development of the students is sought. The department organizes meetings with the IQAC and the Principal of the college from time to time and prepares annual academic calendar based on curriculum for teaching, learning and evaluation. The department organizes various programmes, competitions, seminars, group discussion, guest lectures, etc.
The department is well aware, as it is related to society, of its well defined objectives such as to develop the students obligated to develop the society and the nation. To develop the outlook of active research among the students in order to solve the newly developed social problems is the aim of the department and the department is obligated to fulfill it.
